Varanasi Batik Wall Hanging Art - Sri Buddha Collection

These exclusive Varanasi Batik Wall Hanging Art pieces are hand-painted by a four-generation family of artisans in Varanasi, India. Each Batik is entirely handcrafted through a process of waxing the intricate design, dyeing the fabric, and removing the wax to reveal the final creation. The result is an amazing work of art that adds a sacred element to any home or work space, and can act as a wonderful instrument for meditation and prayer.

Our Sri Buddha collection is designed to encourage a sense of calm and a more peaceful ambience wherever one of the wall hangings is displayed. In Sanskrit, Buddha means ‘one who is awake’. The image of Buddha in this collection portrays the state of enlightenment achieved by Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha) over 2,500 years ago, after meditating beneath the Bodhi tree. A beautiful lotus is pictured around him as a wonderful reminder of this enlightened state, believed to be attained through deep meditation practice and developing qualities of awareness, kindness and inner wisdom.

You’ll see that the same overall Buddha image is offered in a different color/pattern combination, each with its own unique Buddha name. But since each Varanasi Batik Wall Hanging Art is an individually handcrafted creation, the Sri Buddha Batik you choose will likely vary slightly from the image shown. Hanging materials not included; display ideas listed at the bottom.
