Wooden Headless Tambourine (9-inch, 7-inch or 5-inch)

This headless tambourine (also known as a 'jingle ring’) is used as a popular percussion instrument to add wonderful ambiance and rhythm to devotional bhajans. Made with a solid wooden shell, the tambourine features two rows of metal jingles, and no drumhead/skin.

For bhajan sessions, tambourines are handled differently than they are for Western music, such as jazz or rock. Players often hold the instrument with their left hand, and play the patterns with their right. The Amma Shop provides tambourines uniquely designed for playing this way, which is best for a wide variety of bhajan sessions. Each of the tambourine styles, such as this one, originate directly from India and are ideal for devotional music.
