Svarasudha

This book aims to introduce students of music to the ragas (melodic templates) in which some of the bhajans sung in Amma’s ashram are composed. In a sense, learning just one raga helps one understand the melodic basis of all compositions in that raga. ‘Svarasudha’ introduces more than 50 ragas, drawn from both Carnatic and Hindusthani music (the classical music of South and North India respectively), has annotations of more than a hundred bhajans, and includes an index listing many more bhajans and their ragas.
