Lord Shiva

Lord Shiva is a part of the trinity along with Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. The Trimurtis consists of three gods who are responsible for the creation, upkeep and destruction of the world. Lord Shiva is the destroyer of the world so it can be recreated again.

Lord Shiva has a snake wound around his neck known as Vasuki, "the ruler of the Sarpas" as indicated in Puranas. In this beautiful statue Lord Shiva is seen sitting in padmasana (lotus pose).
