The inscription Om Namah Shivaya means "Salutations to the Auspicious One", and it is the mantra of the god Shiva. When worn against the body it is reputed to be protective and beneficial on many levels, and according to the science of Ayurveda, the combination of metals in the bracelet is said to be especially purifying to the body and the nervous system.
